As you sit drinking your french vanilla coffee, wouldn't you like to save money with little or no extra effort? Flavored coffees are delicious, and wether you drink them all the time, or just for special times they can get expensive.
You can either purchase the flavored coffees, and settle for having the amount of flavor added that the manufacturers feel is the right amount, or you can make your own, and suit the amount of flavorings to your own personal taste. Coffee lends itself to blending with many different flavors, from vanilla, to mint, and many others in between. Feel free to experiment, and don't worry that if you don't like it you will have wasted money, since you can make your flavored coffee a cup at a time, and buying the coffee seperatly from the flavorings insures you can have the right taste at the right time for you.
Adding some peppermint extract to your cup will give you a minty-coffee taste. A few drops is all it takes. Purchase your flavorings at the grocery store with the baking supplies. Vanilla, peppermint, maple, brandy, etc. they all make an excellent cup of coffee. Chocolate coffee is a little more complicated, but not excessivly so. You can add either chocolate milk or if you don't care for milk in your coffee, a little (about 1/2 teaspoon) of baking cocoa to your cup, pour in a small amount of coffee and stir until the baking cocoa is mixed in and then finish filling your cup.
Lattes are delicious, but purchasing them can get expensive. Make a homemade version that is almost as good as the expensive purchased ones. Simply heat up a cup of milk (this works better on the stove rather than the microwave) and pour over instant coffee in your cup. Stir vigorously, sweeten to taste and enjoy.
If your children enjoy the taste of coffee and you don't want them to have the caffine from coffee, why not use coffee flavoring, much as you would for your coffee, in thier milk. They will drink more milk, you won't have to worry about the caffine, and they can enjoy the 'grown up' taste.
Feel free to experiment, after all it is your tastebuds that will win out in the end. Your budjet won't be stretched so that you can enjoy one of the finer tastes in life.
